The depletion of mineral resources on land is a problem due to the increasing demand for strontium in industry. It shows a need to explore strontium (Sr2+) resources by extracting Sr2+in seawater. We used a fulvic acid (FA) isolated from compost to coat Fe3O4/MnO2nanocomposite due to the low production cost. The compost was collected from the Supit Urang TPST, Malang City, East Java, Indonesia. Synthesis of Fe3O4/MnO2/FA nanocomposite was performed using the sonochemical co-precipitation method. The characterization results showed that FA, Fe3O4nanoparticles, and Fe3O4/MnO2/FA nanocomposites were successfully isolated and synthesized. The application of synthesized nanocomposites for Sr2+adsorption showed that the Sr2+adsorption efficiency in the standard solution and seawater samples at 99.60% and 41.24%, respectively. © 2023 American Institute of Physics Inc..
