Financial inclusion plays an essential role in alleviating poverty. However, the literature on the relationship between financial inclusion and poverty remains fragmented, and a comprehensive review is lacking. This paper aims to analyze the intellectual structure of this topic and provide an empirical overview of the research conducted to date. A bibliometric analysis was performed using the RStudio package bibliometrix on 497 articles retrieved from the Scopus database. The study reveals an increasing trend in research on financial inclusion and poverty over the past decade. The International Journal of Social Economics is the most influential journal in this field. Koomson I and the University of New England emerge as the leading authors and affiliates, respectively, while India has the highest number of publications. In addition, five key themes and future research directions are proposed. This study offers a novel contribution by systematically analyzing the progression of research on financial inclusion and poverty, which has not been investigated in previous reviews. The findings provide valuable insights to guide future studies. Limitations include reliance on Scopus data, restriction to scientific articles in English and potential keyword selection bias. Future research can expand the database scope and refine keyword strategies to better capture the topic's breadth. © 2026, Malque Publishing. All rights reserved.
