The rapid expansion of tourism activities has highlighted the importance of sustainable and integrated water management practices within tourism destinations, putting additional strain on local water resources and frequently resulting in overextraction, water contamination, and ecosystem degradation. This study attempts to analyze the discourse around tourism’s scope of concern regarding water resources, in the context of increasing detail and concern about extreme events due to climate change on a global scale and resilient environments. A bibliometric approach analyzes scientific literature to trace the evolution of specific multidisciplinary topics or concepts and assess the impact of research. This research compiles bibliometric data from the Scopus database, targeting documents published between 1976 and 2025. The analysis shows an increasing trend in the volume of publications dealing with the nexus between tourism and water resources management, focusing on tourism, water resource, and climate change. The interconnections between land use and tourism, evolves in the areas of ecosystem services, water quality, desalination, ecotourism, and flash floods. The findings demonstrate the dynamic of multidisciplinary research that combines studies on the environment, water-related disasters, and tourism. © 2025 Institute of Physics Publishing.
