Abstract

The soil block method with appropriate composition is a promising alternative to the true shallot seedling media system. This study with A RCBD with two factors and three replications was employed. The first factor was the type of seedling using two varieties, Lokananta (L) and Merdeka (M), consisting of: (1) GL = Goat manure; cocopeat; soil: dolomite, Lokananta variety, (2) GM = Goat manure; cocopeat; soil: dolomite, Merdeka variety, (3) WL = Swamp waste: goat manure: cocopeat: Natural phosphate: dolomite lime Lokananta variety, (4) WM = Swamp waste: goat manure fertilizer: cocopeat: Natural phosphate: dolomite lime, Merdeka variety, (5) HL = Soil; organic humus at a ratio of 2; 1 Lokananta variety, (6) HM = Soil; organic humus at a ratio of 2; 1 Merdeka variety, (7) Dairy residue waste: goat manure fertilizer: cocopeat: natural phosphate at a ratio of Lokananta (SL) variety, (8) Dairy residue waste: goat manure fertilizer: cocopeat: natural phosphate, Merdeka variety (SM), (9) TL = 100% soil of Lokananta variety and (10) TM = 100% soil of Merdeka variety. The second factor was the seedling method: soil block (SB) and conventional system (N). The results showed no significant differences in the growth of TSS shallot seedlings between the soil block method and the conventional seedbed method. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
