LOCAL PHYSICAL TOURISM AMENITIES IN GUBUGKLAKAH VILLAGE, BASED ON SPACE CONFIGURATION

Abstract

Gubugklakah village, as one of the tourist towns in the Mount Bromo Tengger Semeru area, needs significant efforts to strengthen its community by building a thematic village ready to serve tourists to recover from the downturn caused by the pandemic. The main concept is Desa Wisata, with local tourism facilities physically transforming into the image of Gubugklakah village, supported not only by community involvement but also by a sustainable tourism facilities sector. The tourism facilities provided by the conununity are in a sustainable tourism village on the hillside. The installation of these local facilities should involve the entire community, who are also the owners of the tourism community. These tourist facilities in Gubugklakah Village were developed by the community using local physical resources. Their placement is constrained by the topography of the village which can determine the spatial structure of the tourist facilities. This research examines the concept of establishing tourist facilities based on spatial configuration using space syntax techniques, to identify points of achievement and harmonize with conununity activities that have the potential for physical-local tourist facilities. The placement technique is determined by where individuals conduct their daily activities in areas that have the potential to become activity centers, how they are reached, and their distance from the main access. These activities are seen as having the potential to increase visitors’ interest in using tourist facilities. Their local physical materials were used to shape the place. The resulting geographical structure was found to help the community assert its identity. In terms of community participation, these services fostered more trust and attachment to the place in remote mountainous areas. © 2025 by MIP
