Herbal pulp from production of beras kencur (a traditional Indonesian herbal drink made by using Oryza sativa and Kaempferia galangal L) is an underutilized by-product containing bioactive compounds. This study aimed to evaluated herbal jamu pulp Oryza sativa and Kaempferia galangal L as a feed additive to hybrid ducks. in performance production and intestinal morphology. The material used was 192 one-day-old hybrid ducks (unsexing) a Completely Randomized Design: T0(-): basal diet; T1(+): basal diet + antibiotic (Zinc bacitracin 0.1%); T2: basal diet + herbal jamu pulp 0.25%; T3: basal diet + herbal jamu pulp 0.50%; T4: basal diet + herbal jamu pulp 0.75%; T5: basal diet + herbal jamu pulp 1%. Variables measured included production performance (feed intake, body weight gain, feed conversion ratio, production index, income over feed cost) and intestinal morphology (number of villus, villus height, villus area, crypt depth, ratio Vh:Cd, pH, and viscosity). Data were analyzed using ANOVA followed by Duncan’s test. Phytochemical analysis showed antioxidant activity (IC50=23.81-49.80 ppm) and total flavonoid content (48.53-62.70 mg EQ/100 g). In vivo experiment resulted in no significant effect of treatment (P>0.05) on performance production. Significant effect (P<0.05) on intestinal morphology (villus area) and highly significant effect (P<0.01) on the Crypt Depth, pH and viscosity of digesta. It is concluded the herbal jamu pulp can serve as a potential Natural Growth Promoters as a feed additive can improve intestinal morphology (villus area), Crypt Depth, pH, and viscosity, it increases nutrient absorption in hybrid ducks.
