This research explores the impact of technology innovation adaptation and business strategies in advancing agricultural sustainability and community food security, focusing on smart business practices within sustainable agriculture in East Java, Indonesia. Data were gathered from 100 small enterprises using the Structural Equation Modelling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) approach, medium, and large-scale food crop and horticultural commodity farmers in East Java, known for its diverse agricultural products and geographical conditions. The research reveals that TIA significantly impacts CFS, highlighting its direct contribution to improving local food security through technological advancements and farmers' adaptive capabilities. TIA's influence on ASY suggests a less robust effect on sustainable agricultural practices compared to its impact on food security, necessitating supplementary measures like environmental policies and farmer education. Business Strategy (BSY) significantly enhances CFS, underscoring the critical role of strategic planning and execution in ensuring food security. Effective business practices in the agricultural sector can bolster food availability, accessibility, and stability, thereby contributing to community well-being. Similarly, the relationship between ASY and CFS is highly significant, emphasizing the significance of sustainable agricultural practices. This research contributes to the evolving discourse on smart business innovations in sustainable agriculture in East Java, providing actionable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and stakeholders in enhancing food security through sustainable agricultural practices and community engagement. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
