Abstract

Performance measurement is needed to control managerial performance and achieve organizational goals.Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as a performance measurement has long had pros and cons relating to advantages or disadvantages as well as consequences and benefits of its application.Application and criticism of the BSC are still prevalent to date. Based on Taoist thought,this study aims to include cognitive managerial and organizational emotions in each strategic objective in each perspective and cascade method of BSC.This research results fromthe Harmony-based Balanced Scorecard thatrepresents the balance between cognition and emotion in measuring the BSC. Harmony-based Balanced Scorecard may encourage the use of BSC, which considers organizational emotions and managerial cognitive capabilities when deciding if a performance indicator is attained.Organizational cognitive and emotional skills oriented at BSC components may also improve the organization's mental health.Thus, the outcomes of this study can provide various opinions to individuals who are pros or consof implementing the BSC. © 2025, SRAC - Romanian Society for Quality.
