Economic feasibility of micro hydro power plant integrated with raw water supply design

Abstract

In this new era, energy resources are needed to be sustainable, new and renewable. One of the kinds is water resources with head falls. Water resources that have a head fall above 2 m can not only be turned into electrical energy using a micro-hydro power plant (MHPP) but also supply water demand in the city. Sumber Jeruk Springs are located in Malang, Indonesia. These sources are one of the kinds which can do both. This study resulted in the economic feasibility of the Sumber Jeruk Micro Hydropower Plant that is integrated to supply electricity for igniting water pumps for raw water supply in Pagak District, Malang. The results showed that the system can support water demand up to 0.0681 m3/sec or 57,711 people in Pagak District with a minimum water tariff of IDR 1,160. © 2025 Author(s).
