Abstract

Currently, real-time and accurate air quality and condition information are essential to environmental, industrial, medical, and scientific applications at anytime and anywhere. Air quality and condition monitoring system needs a simple and user-friendly graphical user interface (GUI) to enhance and facilitate interaction between the user/monitoring operator and the monitoring device. This paper presents the development of a user interface using LabView software package for outdoor ambient air quality and condition monitoring systems. A developed data acquisition/monitor device acquired the air quality and condition parameters and transmitted them over Bluetooth to a monitor terminal. The preliminary test with the monitor device placed on the fourth floor of the campus building revealed that environment air quality and condition parameters (temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, CO level, CO2 level, CH4 level, PM10 level, wind speed, wind direction, and rainfall) could be displayed on the developed GUI at monitor terminal. Moreover, the air quality and condition parameters can be recorded continuously and in real-time for further analysis and processing. With the developed GUI, environment monitoring can be performed easily, continuously, effectively, and real-time. © 2025 Author(s).
