Mangrove crabs and mangroves are closely related in maintaining and managing mangrove ecosystems to remain fertile and productive, while mangroves provide a habitat and resources for crabs. Thus, this study aims to determine the morphometry and egg maturity of female mangrove crabs (Scylla serrata) in the Mangrove and Crab Conservation Area. Sampling was conducted using purposive sampling at three stations, each consisting of three plots, where two traps (folding traps) were set. A total of 24 mangrove crabs were caught, consisting of nine females and 15 males. The frequency of the largest mangrove crab body length class was in the 6 to 6.9cm interval, with a percentage of 38%, while the measurement of the mangrove crab carapace width resulted in 6 classes with values of 8 to 12cm, with a percentage of 33%. The frequency distribution of the largest mangrove crab body weight size class was in the 84-139g class interval, accounting for 38% of the total. The maturity level of female mangrove crab eggs was classified as TKO I, TKO II, and TKO III since mangrove crabs utilize the mangrove ecosystem as a feeding ground. Mangrove crab stock management requires an ecological approach to restore the condition of the mangrove ecosystem and restrict fishing. © 2025, Egyptian Society for the Development of Fisheries and Human Health.
