Abstract

An experiment with four groups of two aquaria, each containing 300 growing larvae of Clarias gariepinus, revealed a significant relation between the feeding regime during weeks 2 to 5 after hatching and the prevalence of the ruptured intestine syndrome (RIS) later on. The possible role of the physiological ontogeny of the digestive tract in the epizoötiology of the disease is considered. © 1992.
