Abstract

A hydraulic model investigation was conducted to evaluate the performance of stepped spillway. The stepped spillway had 1V:2H (26.57°) slope that would compare with conventional (smooth) spillway. This paper presented the results of the experimental studies on stepped spillway structure of 26.57° and to find out the energy dissipation and dissolved oxygen conditions at stepped spillway structure with 2, 4, 8, 16, and 32 steps. Hydraulic model of spillway conducted at laboratory with 100 cm high, 30 cm wide, and 5 variations of flow rates. The model investigation showed that relative energy loss approximately 91% on 32 steps, 91% on 16 steps, 90% on 8 steps, 91% on 4 steps, and 90% on 2 steps sequently. Dissolved oxygen increased about 1.89% on 32 steps and 2.45% on 16 steps, but not significant on 8, 4, and 2 steps.
