Abstract

This paper elaborates the connection and integration between Islamic principles and human rights. From the basic principles of hablun min Allah and hablun win an-nas, two concepts of human rights emerge; the rights of man (haq al-insan) and the rights of Allah. The Islamic concept concerning human life is based on a theo-centric approach to which Allah, with His Shari'ah, is the main point of reference determining the good and bad in this life as an individual, a community member or a citizen. The concept of Islam in terms of human rights follows the tauhid, which consists equally of perspective and brotherhood.
