Asbuton is a natural asphalt found in Buton Island, Indonesia. The common practice when using the material in the CPHMA is that it is mixed with aggregate in the hot temperature in Asphalt Mix Plant. The material is then stored for one day before being applied in cold condition. The purpose of the research is to evaluate whether increasing CPHMA temperature before being laid and paved will give better performance. The evaluation follows the Indonesian Directorate General of Highways which uses Marshall Methodology The results show that increasing temperature even only about 400C increase the Marshall stability significantly. Adding asphalt to the CPHMA mix also increases the performance, with optimum asphalt range 5 to 10%. Other works need to be pursued particularly to increase the VIM so that the mix can meet the specification. © Copyright 2016 by Mairepav8 2016 Organizers.
