The abundance of Arthropods was studied in an organic paddy field in Malang from March to May 2017. The objective of this study is to analyze the effect of refugia block on Arthropod abundance, diversity, and composition collected by water pan traps. The observations were made by using water pan traps set in the paddy field with refugia block and without refugia as the control. Arthropods were collected five times in 37, 48, 55, 81 and 91 days after planting (DAP). There were 267 individuals of Arthropod collected, consisted of 166 individuals in refugia block and 101 individuals in control. The samples showed that 26 Arthropod families found in refugia blocks and 20 Arthropod families found the grasses (control). The abundance, richness, and diversity of Arthropods were significantly higher in the paddy field with refugia block than those in control. Several predators belong to the family Coccinellidae, Oxyopidae, Libellulidae, Lycosidae, and Syrphidae were collected in a few samples. The abundance of Arthropod in a paddy field with refugia block increased from the 37 DAP and had peaked in 55 DAP, then decreased from 81 DAP to 91 DAP. The Arthropods was most abundant in 55 DAP may associate with the early generative phase of the rice plant in the field. © 2018 Author(s).
