Abstract

Szal introduced the class of general monotone sequences of order r, which is a generalization of the class of general monotone sequences considered by Tikhonov. A sequence of complex numbers {ai} is said to be general monotone of order r if the summation of the absolute values of the differences ai - ai+r with i = m to i = 2m-1 is less than Cam for C a positive constant. By combining the theory of approximation and of this class of sequences, we calculate the error of a sine series whose coefficients fall into this class. © 2018 Author(s).
