Abstract

A Cross flow turbine is a most beneficial prime mover, compared to waterwheelsand other micro hydro turbines, to convert water potential energy into mechanicalenergy as an electric generator prime mover. A cross flow turbine has a nozzle thatfunctions to spray the water, converts the water potential energy into kinetic energy, directs the water jet to hit the turbine blade runner which causes the cross flowturbine shaft to spin. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of a vertical and ahorizontal nozzle on a cross flow turbine performance. © IAEME Publication.
