Supply chain strategic management is most crucial in the supply of water, especially in those countries having a huge population like Indonesia. Drinking water demand of Indonesia is increasing day by day with the increases in population. Indonesian companies are facing the issues to fulfil the growing needs of drinking water. These companies need better strategic management activities to fulfil the water demand. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the effect of supply chain strategic management practices on firm performance in Indonesian water supply companies. Data were gathered from the managerial staff of water supply companies in Indonesia. A survey was conducted to get the data; therefore, the study is based on a quantitative research approach. Data were collected at one point in time; therefore, it is a cross-sectional research study. After analysing the collected that, it is found that supply chain strategic management is crucial to enhance water supply company’s performance. Supply chain formulation, supply chain implementation and supply chain controlling have a positive role in firm performance among Indonesian water supply companies. Moreover, management characteristics have a major role to enhance the positive effect of strategy formulation on firm performance. © IAEME Publication.
