The unstable ground conditions in BTS tower construction and limited logistical access require innovation in foundation technology and ease of application and implementation in the field. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the combination of plastic pallets and bamboo piles as a soil reinforcement material in increasing the bearing capacity of shallow foundations in a Base Transceiver Station (BTS) tower. Prediction analysis based on the theoretical calculations was carried out using the Terzaghi and Schmertmann methods. Field or actual measurement compared to the prediction analysis used the static load test method on 2 (two) foundation samples, with and without a plastic pallet and bamboo pile. The prediction analysis resulted in additional bearing capacity from 1.67 tons becoming 5.96 tons. While the actual testing in the field defined the increase of bearing capacity from 2.84 tons became 14.04 tons. This study found that the additional material for soil foundation reinforcement had significantly increased the bearing capacity and stability of the foundation. Thus, a combination plastic pallet and bamboo pile will be an efficient, light, and economical solution, but also feasible to implement in poor soil foundation and having low bearing capacity. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.
