Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) is one of the most popular research areas today. It can be applied in various applications in many fields such as industrial, scientific, and medical. Therefore, the availability of affordable WSN is a must. In this paper, an affordable multipurpose wireless sensor node is designed using Arduino pro mini and nRF24L01. To avoid the collision during data transmission and to pass the data within the wireless network, the CSMA/CA and simple static routing protocol are implemented into designed wireless sensor node. Some experiments are done to test the functionality performance of the implementation. The result shows that the nodes can detect the carrier when other device doing transmission and avoid collision properly to avoid the collision. The experiment also shows that the implemented routing protocol works well to forward the data within the network. The average of ping duration from the sender node to the destination node through a router node is 61.22 ms. © 2019 IEEE.
