Abstract

This study aims at designing and analyzing observer based adaptive PI sliding surface of sliding mode controller to regulate the output voltage of Cuk converter. The control strategy is indirect scheme, in which the output voltage regulation can be done by controlling the one of its inductor current. Instead of using many sensors to measure all state variables, the observer is designed to estimate all variables such that it is able to avoid the measurement noise and reduce production cost. Adaptive PI sliding surface is constructed to improve the system robustness against input voltage and resistance load variations. The stability proof of the observer and adaptive PI sliding mode is ensured by using Lyapunov direct method. The numerical simulation shows that the proposed method is able to perfectly follow desired voltage even though the sudden input voltage and resistance load occurred. Among its competitors, the proposed method exhibits the best performance for Cuk converter's voltage regulation. © 2019 IEEE.
