Abstract

This paper describes the results of research on the effect of profile factor on leakage current of four types of 20kV-post insulators in dry and wet clean conditions. The high ac voltage applied to the post insulator during experiment was 25kV corresponding to the highest voltage on a 20kV system. The level of insulator wetting has been referred to the average daily rainfall data in Indonesia. Three common rainfall values have been considered, namely 20mm, 50mm and 100mm, which are equivalent to the amount of watering level of 16ml/s, 30ml/s, and 60ml/s respectively. The results showed the significant effect of profile factor on the level of leakage current of post insulator both in clean dry and wet conditions. © 2019 IEEE.
