Abstract

Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) received great attention during the last decade for its capability in handling extreme and harsh environments mission. A quadcopter which is basically a rotary-wing type UAV is widely used commercially due to hover capacity and high maneuverability. Even though the quadcopter has its advantages; this type of UAV has a short flying time. This study proposed a data-driven flight safe system to ensure the quadcopter can finish and return to the home safely. The preliminary experiment was conducted to observe the battery behavior in the various flight speed. The battery model was constructed using the regression approach method. The proposed system calculates the required distance using Haversine and Euclidian equation. The result of experimental shows that our system can prevent the quadcopter to execute the mission if the power source is not enough. The system can prevent flight accidents due to loss of power. © 2021 ACM.
