This paper presents the development of an accurate battery model which can be implemented easily in the real time parameter estimation of an Li-Polymer cell. An equivalent circuit-based battery model with nonlinear feedback structure is proposed. The relationship between the open circuit voltage and the state-of-charge parameter is represented by some non-linear components. The developed battery model is purposed to be used for the implementation of a parameter estimation algorithm on a microcontroller-based application. Parameters estimation consists of two execution processes, being aimed to find the time constant and the steady-state gain of the first-order parts and to find the parameters of the relaxation effect of the battery. The parameters are updated continuously for each of the three input pulses of current. The proposed method and model are then verified in real time application of Li-Pol batteries. © 2022 IEEE.
